How to get started on Facebook?

1. Start by typing into your web browser Facebook.com
2. This will bring you to the Facebook homepage, where if you are a new user you will be able to create an account using your first and last name, e-mail address, password, sex, and birthday, Make sure that you have an existing e-mail address to be able to sign up.                                  Note: Your password must be 7 characters long and may not be a dictionary word. For example, your password may NOT be ‘delicious’ but it CAN be ‘delicious1’ This makes the word unrecognizable but still easy to remember.
   
3. Create an account by putting in your general information on the home-page. You will only need to do this the first time. From then on you will be able to simply type in your e-mail and password to sign in.
   
4. Now that you have created your account you are ready to start connecting. You can upload photos from your computer or if you have a webcam you can take pictures right there sitting at your computer. You can also start searching for friends either by their first and last name or by e-mail address.
5.  If you are worried about privacy, be sure to go to your security settings and set your account to “Friends Only”. This feature will make sure that your account information is only visible to those who you have accepted friend requests from. Note: By sure to only accept friend requests from people that you know.
   
6. Make sure to make your password something that no one will be able to guess as well as something that you will remember.
   

Note:To find existing friends by their first and last name type it into the search box at the top of the page.

Go to Account and in the scroll down screen press on Privacy Settings

Now set your account to “friends only”.

This will make sure that no one will be able to access your information besides the people that you are friends with.

Note: Do not accept friend requests from people that you do not know.
